was properly able to rely on the

Governor's judgment and knowledge of

local conditions, and on the

Vice-Chancellor's expert knowledge

of University affairs under Eastern

conditions.

It should be stressed,

however, that the idea of an enquiry

by an independent commission has not

been abandoned altogether, and that

the possibility of a review in due

course of the whole position of the

University by such a commission is

being borne in mind. At the same

sime, since the future of the University must be intimately

affected by

ito allations

with South Arina, it is felt

that such an

enging would

be more valuable when

peaceful conditions have gain

been established in that area.
